THE OLIFANTSHOEK police confiscated 242 kilograms of copper cables that was being transported in a white Volkswagen Polo TSI that was travelling in the direction of Kathu.

Lieutenant Sergio Kock on Friday said that while conducting routine patrols, the police chased after the vehicle as it failed to stop at a stop sign on June 1 at about 3am.

“The police immediately chased after the vehicle and the two male occupants fled into the veld when they were stopped. The police found 242 kilograms of copper cables in the boot with an estimated street value of R250,000.

”Police also confiscated the car as it was discovered that it was a rented vehicle. An enquiry docket was opened and the investigation continues.“
