Rhythmia Gymnastics off to Cairo for International Competition

The Rhythmia Gymnastics Club in Kimberley, renowned as one of South Africa’s top clubs, is making headlines once again as three of its rhythmic gymnasts embark on an exciting journey to Cairo, Egypt.

The Rhythmia Gymnastics Club in Kimberley, renowned as one of South Africa’s top clubs, is making headlines once again as three of its rhythmic gymnasts embark on an exciting journey to Cairo, Egypt.

Santiago Jocker, a Grade 9 learner at Northern Cape High School; Vuyiswa Dikgetsi, a Grade 9 learner; and Tricha Richards, a Grade 8 learner, both from St Patrick’s CBC, have displayed exceptional skills and dedication in the sport and therefore these three athletes have been selected to represent their club and country at the prestigious 2023 Rhythmic Gymnastics International Pharaohs Cup.

Santiago and Vuyiswa will be representing their club, while Tricia will be going one better and have the honour of representing her country.

The competition in Egypt is set to captivate audiences from June 9-11. Cairo, with its rich history and vibrant culture, will serve as the backdrop for this highly anticipated event. The Rhythmia gymnasts, along with other elite athletes from around the world, will have the opportunity to face-off in competition and compete for top honours.

The journey began for the Rhythmia Gymnastics Club Junior Olympic development gymnasts at the Junior and Senior Trial Rhythmic competition held at the University of Tuks in Pretoria where the gymnasts secured their spots on the national team, an achievement that propelled them towards this incredible international opportunity.

Accompanied by their coach, Tazmiah Francis, the gymnasts bid farewell to South Africa on Tuesday, ahead of the competition’s grand opening ceremony. Coach Francis, a guiding light in their athletic journey, will be spending her birthday in Egypt on June 11.

The Rhythmia Club and their families told the DFA that they will be extending warm birthday wishes to coach Tazmiah and expressing thankfulness for her unwavering support and dedication.

As the rhythmic gymnasts embark on this thrilling adventure, they carry with them the hopes and dreams of their club, their families, and their nation. Their journey to Cairo is not only an opportunity for personal growth and achievement but also a chance to inspire the next generation of aspiring gymnasts.

All eyes will be on Cairo as the Rhythmia Gymnastics Club athletes step onto the international stage, ready to dazzle the world with their grace, precision, and artistry.

The club and its supporters eagerly await their triumphant return, knowing that their gymnasts have already made them proud, regardless of the outcome.
