THE WARRENTON Detectives foiled an armed robbery and arrested two suspects who entered a shop in the Warrenton CBD on March 15 at about 11.45am.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said three armed robbers entered the shop and started shoving the owner around.

“The police pounced on them and arrested two men, aged 35 and 46 years old, on the premises, while one of the robbers fled the scene,” said Kock.

“The police confiscated a firearm, two magazines, ammunition and a bag containing robbery instruments including cable ties, balaclavas, screwdrivers and a wheel spanner.“

Kock added that the police were looking at possibly linking the suspects to other robberies that recently took place in Warrenton and surrounding areas.

“The police are still searching for the third male suspect and warn the public not to approach him as he could be armed and dangerous.”

Anyone with information that could assist the police is asked to contact the Warrenton Detectives on 082 448 6330 or on the SMS number 32211 or via the MySAPS app.

“All information will be treated confidentially. The investigation continues,” Kock concluded.
