A head-on collision claimed the lives of three women on the N12 on Friday.

THE WINDSORTON police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a head-on collision which claimed the lives of three women on the N12 on Friday 27 May at approximately 18:30.

The accident happened approximately 40 kilometres outside Kimberley.

Police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the three were killed in a head-on collision between a Toyota Run X and Volkswagen Polo.

“The accident happened on Friday, 27 May 2022 at approximately 18:25.

“Our preliminary investigation indicates that the accident happened when one of the vehicles involved in the accident was overtaking, and collided with an oncoming vehicle,” explained Tawana.

Tawana said five occupants from the other vehicle involved in the accident were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

He said the investigation into the accident continues.
