Tuck shop owner shot and killed in Phutanang

A tuck shop owner was shot and killed during what was believed to being an armed robbery in Phuthanang

AN ETHIOPIAN tuck shop owner was shot and killed during what was believed to being an armed robbery in Phuthanang on the evening of Thursday 26 May 2022.

The incident which happened just before 22:00 on Thursday night has left the Phuthanang community shocked.

The deceased was found in a sitting position next to one of the fridges.

It is believed that he managed to crawl that far in an attempt to get help after being shot.

A community member said the blood traces on the floor, was evidence enough that he dragged himself into a sitting position.

The tuckshop is situated in the yard of an elderly woman who said she heard one gunshot.

A community member said the ambulance and police responded swiftly to the scene.

“Unfortunately it was too late to save the tuck shop owner.

“There were three vans from the Kagisho Police Station, two vehicles from the Flying Squad, two cars from Intelligence Services, a POPS minibus and then the Forensic Services,” said the community member.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said he was not aware of the incident.
