THE POLICE are investigating a farm murder after an elderly woman was killed on her farm approximately 15 kilometres outside of Olifantshoek on the N14 road.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said that preliminary reports indicate that a neighbour discovered the woman’s body, with her hands bound, inside the farmhouse on Tuesday morning at about 9am.

“The elderly male farm owner was found in the veld, where he had managed to untie himself,” added Kock.

“The black GWM bakkie of the owner was found abandoned approximately two kilometres from the farm with the help of the community and a local security company. The elderly male victim received medical treatment.”

Kock said that the police were on the lookout for two male suspects who allegedly fled with a cellphone belonging to the victim and firearms from the safe.

“The John Taolo Gaetsewe acting district commander, Brigadier Johnny Besnaar, has activated all resources to expedite the apprehension and arrest of the suspects.

“Anyone with information can contact Captain Ronnie Oosterhuis on 082 495 4655 or Constable Kabelo Nkatlholang on 082 302 0395. Alternatively, an SMS can be sent anonymously to 32211 or on the MySAPS app.”

Kock urged the public to be cautious and not to approach the suspects as they are deemed to be armed and dangerous.

“All information will be treated with the strictest of confidence. The investigation continues.”
