A HOMEVALE resident, Moipone Thole, has reached out to the elderly in her area by donating food parcels to 10 beneficiaries.

Thole said that she had decided to lend a helping hand as poverty has impacted heavily on the lives of people in her community, especially the elderly.

“We are facing difficult financial times and Covid-19 has made matters even more challenging,” said Thole. “The beneficiaries are pensioners and some cannot afford the necessities due to the increase in food prices.

“I just wanted to make a little difference in the lives of the elderly. Some of the elderly also live on their own and cannot make trips to town to buy some essentials.”

Thole said it is the first time she has donated to the community and she is hoping it will not be the last.

“I am planning on making another donation again in the future. Our community has many challenges. It is up to us as community members to make a difference in each other’s lives. We cannot sit back and just watch each other struggle,” she said.
