The Mothibistad police arrested two male suspects on charges of car hijacking.
THE MOTHIBISTAD police arrested two male suspects, aged 19 and 22 years old, on charges of car hijacking.
Police spokesperson Mosimaneotsile Letsapa said the suspects were arrested at Seven Miles village on Sunday.
“According to information, the male victim reported the incident at the Mothibistad police station and alleged that his Polo vehicle was hijacked by three male persons,” said Letsapa.
“While police members were at Seven Miles they saw a Polo vehicle fitting the description as per the complaint, with three occupants. After noticing the police the Polo sped off and a car chase ensued. The driver lost control and hit a wall.”
Letsapa said that one of the suspects managed to escape.
“All the suspects fled on foot but the police managed to arrest two of the three suspects. The police are still searching for the third suspect.”
Letsapa added that the police officers were lauded for the arrests.
“Brigadier Johnny Besnaar, the acting district commander of JTG, applauded Mothibistad SAPS members for their vigilance and alertness in apprehending the suspects. The two suspects will appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of car hijacking.”
