A Northern Cape man is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, September 21 after he allegedly raped a mentally challenged woman.
A 28-YEAR-old Northern Cape man is expected to appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, September 21 on a charge of raping a mentally challenged woman.
The alleged incident took place on Monday, September 20, at around 4am.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the suspect allegedly raped the woman after forcefully gaining entry to her home.
“The 31-year-old woman was asleep in her bedroom when the suspect broke the window to gain entry. She screamed for help and her mother came to her rescue. The suspect fled but was traced and arrested by members of the Batlharos SAPS, Kuruman FCS and the Provincial Investigation unit in Matlhobolo Section, Batlharos on Monday.”
The Northern Cape provincial head of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit, Brigadier Nicky Mills, applauded the team for the swift arrest of the suspect.
