THIS WEEKEND marks a significant event for lawn bowls enthusiasts as the Sol Plaatje West End Bowls Club prepares to host its highly anticipated annual spring tournament.

Renowned for showcasing exceptional bowling skills, this competition attracts competitive bowlers from all over the central region, all vying for a chance to claim substantial prize money.

The tournament format includes three games of 15-end Trips on the opening day, followed by the final two games on Sunday. The club has made considerable efforts to nurture and develop the sport within the region according to recently-appointed chairman, Adrian van Wyk. “We are very determined to foster the growth of lawn bowls, especially as it gains traction internationally and attracts a younger generation of bowlers,” Van Wyk told the DFA.

He also expressed gratitude for the support received from local businesses, acknowledging their pivotal role in ensuring the sustainability of sports facilities in the community.
