While the Sol Plaatje Masters League Easter Football Tournament was drawing football fans in Kimberley, over in Groblershoop another Easter tournament was drawing enthusiastic crowds.

The !KHEIS Local Football Association Easter Tournament, held over the weekend at Groblershoop High School, concluded in a thrilling fashion as Pearls United FC emerged victorious after a tense battle on the pitch.

The tournament, which drew 24 teams from across the province, showcased the finest talent in local football, culminating in an epic showdown between Pearls United comprising players from the Barkly West and Kimberley areas, and Dragons FC from Groblershoop.

In a tightly contested final match, both teams displayed remarkable skill and determination, but neither could break the deadlock, resulting in a scoreless draw at the end of regulation time. With the tournament title on the line, the tension peaked as the game headed into penalty shootouts.

It was during this nerve-wracking shootout that Pearls showcased their composure and precision, securing a 4-1 victory over Dragons. The jubilant scenes that followed marked a momentous triumph for Pearls as they lifted the championship trophy amid cheers from their supporters.

As champions of the !KHEIS LLFA Easter Tournament, Pearls United not only claimed bragging rights but also walked away with a handsome cheque to the tune of R25,000. Furthermore, their stellar performance has opened doors to even greater opportunities, as they stand a chance to compete in the prestigious Champs of Champs Tournament.

The Champs of Champs Tournament, slated to take place in Upington at the end of this month, promises to be a pinnacle event in the local football calendar, offering a winning purse of R100,000.
