RUGBY enthusiasts across the Griqualand West region will be thrilled at the announcement that the Rugby Union has unveiled its eagerly awaited new coaching team for the Suzuki Griquas Under-21 squad.

With an eye firmly fixed on the future, this coaching line-up promises to inject fresh energy, expertise, and inspiration into the region’s burgeoning rugby talent.

Taking the helm as head coach is none other than Johnathan Francke, a name synonymous with Griquas rugby excellence in the region.

Francke’s impressive track record, spanning both playing and coaching roles at various levels, underscores his unwavering commitment to the game and its development. His appointment signals a clear intent to instil a winning mentality and nurture the next generation of Griqua rugby stars.

Assisting Francke in this ambitious endeavour are two familiar faces, Jonathan Adendorf and Ederies Arendse, both revered former Griquas players. Their deep-rooted understanding of the game, coupled with a passion for player development, positions them perfectly to mentor and mould the young talents within the Under-21 squad.

With Adendorf and Arendse on board, the coaching setup boasts a formidable combination of experience and insight and team culture.

Complementing the coaching trio is the indispensable Karabo Mathomme, stepping into the role of Team Manager. Mathomme’s sterling reputation as an astute administrator, coupled with his firsthand experience as a player, equips him superbly to steer the Under-21 team towards new heights of success. His appointment underscores the union’s commitment to holistic player management and the nurturing of talent beyond the field.

Suzuki Griquas CEO Arni van Rooyen expressed his enthusiastic approval of the recent appointments, highlighting the wealth of expertise and experience within the newly selected coaching and management team.

“Their previous involvement with Griquas has streamlined this process,” van Rooyen noted, emphasising their intimate understanding of the team’s ethos, objectives, and performance standards. With this insider knowledge, he anticipates a significant enhancement to the Under-21 side, underscoring the value of continuity and familiarity within the organisation.

As the excitement builds and anticipation mounts, all eyes turn to the horizon, where the dawn of a new era beckons for Griqualand West Rugby.

With Francke, Adendorf, Arendse, and Mathomme at the helm of the junior side, the stage is set for a thrilling journey of growth, achievement, and unforgettable moments on the rugby field. Here’s to the next chapter in the storied legacy of the Griqualand West Rugby Union.
