NC Heat finished last season perched at the top of the second division log. They now have the task of defending and consolidating that position by amassing more match points for them to gain the crucial 25 points needed to be considered for promotion to the first division.

The provincial cricket franchise, the Northern Cape Heat, have unveiled a revamped line-up for the upcoming season as the team focuses on its intent to gain senior league division status.

NCC head coach Mark Charlton on Wednesday introduced the bulk of the provincial franchise players to the media at the Diamond Oval in Cassandra. The team has signed on several new players from across franchises in the country in a bid to replace those who left the Northern Cape for other teams.

The new members in the team include former Itec Knights all-rounder Romano Terre’blanche, Jason Oakes, Lance Berg, Kelly Smuts and Grant Thompson the former Titans captain.

Kimberlite and former Lions player Tshepo Ntuli has also been added to the books.

NC Heat head coach Mark Charlton said there was a good chance that the team could make it into the first division. The quest for that first division target will start in earnest around April next year.

The team has, during the current off-season period, put in net practice as well as a series of friendly games with, among others, the Itec Knights and club cricketers from around the Diamond City.
