Flamingo Primary School shines at NC Athletics Competition

Learners from Flamingo Primary School made regular visits to the winners podium at the recent Northern Cape Athletics competition held at the De Beers Athletics Track in Kimberley.

The school’s participation was met with pride and enthusiasm, with teacher Lebogang Sebudi who expressed his admiration for the students’ achievements at the competition.

In an interview with the DFA, Sebudi said the entire school was immensely proud of its athletes who participated in the competition. “We are really proud of our learners who took part in the Northern Cape Athletics competition,” said Sebudi. “Each student gave their best effort, and their results reflect their dedication and hard work.”

Among the standout performances was Warona Sehako’s debut in the 60-metre run, where she secured an impressive second-place finish. Sehako’s achievement marked a promising start to her athletic career and garnered praise from her peers and teachers alike.

Not to be outdone, other Flamingo Primary School students also left their mark on the competition. Lulama Mhlanga managed a third-place finish in the 100-metre race, while Boikago Melesi showcased remarkable endurance in the 1,500m event, earning a well-deserved second place.

Additionally, Lerato Links and Tlhalefo Kgosiemang demonstrated their talent and determination in the 1,200m races, both securing third-place finishes in their respective events.

But while celebrating their achievements Sebudi emphasised the importance of looking to the future as well, “We are incredibly proud of our learners’ achievements, but we also recognise the areas where we can improve. With dedication and continued training, we aim to achieve even better results in future competitions,” he said.

Flamingo Primary School’s success at the provincial Athletics competition serves as a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing both academic and athletic excellence. As the students continue to train and hone their skills, they seem poised to make even greater strides in the world of athletics.
