Diamond Ladies football club won two of their fixtures in the Frances Baard Regional Women’s League by massive margins at the weekend enabling them to go top of the log of stream A while a loss by Royal Wizards pushed them to position six on the district-wide league log.

Diamond Ladies have won 10 of 13 league matches to stand their points at 32 which is 10 points clear of the second spot team on the log, namely Real Stars Ladies, who have amassed 24 points after 12 games.

Royal Wizards, on the other hand, sitting at position six, are backsliding this time around. They have managed to win a mere four matches out of the 12 league games played thus far in the nine-member log.

The Royal Wizards senior team had finished well enough in recent league competitions; well enough to represent the Frances Baard district at the Sasol League national play-offs in Limpopo recently.

With that type of exposure available to them, one would have expected Wizards to outplay most of their peers in the junior ladies district league. Moreso in light of the fact that the Sasol League is a natural step up for them.

At the bottom of stream A, Double Action Wanderers and Tiger Boys Ladies are battling for survival. With only four scheduled matches yet to play it is going to be a tough task for, especially Tiger Ladies to hoist themselves from the bottom.

They managed a solitary win out of 12 matches.

A nudge above Tigers Ladies, Double Action Ladies, similarly, have a paltry points cupboard after winning a mere two league matches from 13 played.

In their recent league match last Sunday, Double Action were given a thorough 5-0 drubbing by the log leading Diamond Ladies. The same Diamond Ladies had on the same day also handed a 7-2 lashing to Buffer Zone Ladies of Barkly West in their second, double-header fixture.

In the B stream of the district-wide women’s league, Sol Plaatje University FC is leading the roost with nine wins out of 12 matches for 30 points. SPU FC enjoys a seven-point lead over its nearest rival, namely Power Boys Ladies FC, who have 23 points.

At the bottom, the candidates with the least points to their names are John Daka Ladies with seven points and Kgatelopele FC with eight points.
