“On Workers’ Day (Friday, May 1) all social partners must recommit themselves to confront the challenges facing workers.”
THE ANC in the Northern Cape remains concerned about the poor conditions of workers, labour broker employees and farmworkers across the Province.
ANC provincial secretary Deshi Ngxanga said on Friday that the party would continue to work closely with all progressive trade unions and Cosatu to fight for fair compensation, equality and better working conditions in all sectors.
“On Workers’ Day (Friday, May 1) all social partners must recommit themselves to confront the challenges facing workers,” said Ngxanga.
He paid tribute to countless workers who were providing essential services and goods throughout the country during the nationwide lockdown in order to sustain the economy.
“We shall continue to work together to ensure that we make progress in addressing all issues affecting our workers. We salute all essential workers across the country who continue to provide services during this difficult time of Covid-19. Let us all adhere to the call to wear a cloth face mask when in public places and to wash our hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser. We should also avoid touching our eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.”
