THE SOUTH African Police Service (SAPS) in the Northern Cape, in partnership with the provincial Department of Health, will on Thursday, July 8 roll out its vaccination programme for police officers in the Province.

Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Dimakatso Mooi said the launch forms part of government’s plan to curb the spread of Covid-19 amongst front-line workers.

“The launch forms part of an attempt by collective stakeholders in government to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, which continues to claim the lives of many people. The MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Nomandla Bloem, together with the acting provincial commissioner, Major-General Joey Kers, will lead the launch and the acting provincial commissioner and other senior managers are expected to form part of the first group of police officers to receive their jabs,” said Mooi.

In the Northern Cape, 24 vaccination sites have been identified where members will receive their one-shot jab of the vaccination.
