Uncut diamonds and a pistol seized in crime prevention operations

The police seized 400 bags of diamond bearing gravel and arrested two male suspects in possession of 12 uncut diamonds in Kleinzee during Operation Vhutha Hawe and Thata Zonke on August 25.

THE POLICE seized 400 bags of diamond bearing gravel and arrested two male suspects who were in possession of 12 uncut diamonds in Kleinzee during Operation Vhutha Hawe and Thata Zonke on August 25.

Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Kock said the the crime prevention operation that took place in the Namakwa district was conducted by the Springbok Public Order Policing, K9, Visible Policing, Crime Intelligence, Immigration Services and Kleinzee SAPS.

“The team arrested 85 undocumented suspects at the Springbok hostels in Kleinzee and seized an abandoned CZ380 pistol and ammunition from a garage.”

He stated that all the suspects would appear in the Springbok magistrates’ court soon.

The acting district commander of Namakwa, Colonel Schalk Andrews commended the unabated efforts of the members in clamping down on crime.
