TWO SUSPECTS were arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition after they were found in possession of a .9mm pistol at the Samaria informal settlement on Sunday.

Kimberley police spokesperson Captain Tessa Jansen said that members of the Kimberley Visible Policing unit followed up on information regarding the sale of a firearm and executed a clandestine operation at Samaria informal settlement on August 28, at about 7.30am.

“They searched two male suspects aged 19 and 22 and arrested and detained them after they discovered the .9mm pistol,” said Jansen.

She added that the suspects would appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.
