Sutherland police seek two missing people

The police in Sutherland have requested the public’s assistance in finding two missing persons.

THE POLICE in Sutherland have requested the public’s assistance in finding two missing persons.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said that Gert “Koringpens” Witbooi, 64, who went missing on September 25, 2021, was last seen walking on the R354 road towards Calvinia.

“Witbooi is of medium build, 1.2 metres tall, walks with a walking stick and is very friendly,” said Kock.

The police are also searching for Lydia “Lettie” van Wyk, 70, who went missing on January 26 from De Bron farm near Sutherland.

Kock said that she was last seen walking towards Sutherland and was wearing a brown dress.

“She is 1.5 metres tall and of medium build.”
