Suspect summoned to appear for fraud

A 35-year-old suspect has been summoned to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud and money laundering.

A 35-YEAR-old suspect has been summoned to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on charges of fraud and money laundering.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Tebogo Thebe said the SA Revenue Service (Sars) in Kimberley alleged that the main suspect made false entries on corporate income tax returns and value added tax returns between 2016 and 2017.

“The accused is an accomplice of the main suspects arrested in December 2020. The main suspect is a director of Franti General Trading CC, Mamontobatsi Gloria Sebolecwe. The accused allegedly assisted with false submissions to the South African Revenue Service resulting in an actual loss of R415,000,” said Thebe.

He added that the matter was reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team for further investigation and the suspect was summoned to appear before Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on February 17.
