ONE LANE on the R31 provincial road near Wildebeeskuil Pan was opened to traffic on Sunday afternoon following road works.

Northern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works spokesperson Crystal Robertson said motorists were able to pass through the stop-and-go traffic control system at about 2.30pm on Sunday.

“The lane on the side of Platfontein has a safe gravel surface for a distance approximately 600 metres long. This temporary gravel surface forms part of the initial project scope to raise the low-lying area by 1.5 metres,” said Robertson.

“We request motorists not to speed when passing through the stop-and-go traffic control system. We thank the community for their patience and co-operation.”
