The Northern Cape Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison in partnership with the provincial police, the Provincial Joints Structure and the Community Policing Board launched the Safer Festive Season Operations in Kimberley on November 12, 2021.

Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Mashay Gamieldien said various operations were conducted in the city as part of the launch of the campaign.

“The delegation during the campaign engaged with motorists at a roadblock conducted on the N12 North.

“They then proceeded to the shopping complex in Galeshewe and the Diamond Pavilion Mall where the MEC of Transport, Safety and Liaison, Nomadla Bloem, the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Joey Kers and the Director General in the department, Justice Bekebeke interacted and engaged with shoppers.

“The delegation also searched vehicles and taxis at the weighbridge on the N12 South. They also handed out promotional items while engaging with motorists and community members. The activities concluded with a visit to the Craven Taxi Rank in the Kimberley CBD,” Gamieldien said.
