POWER supply to Kimtown flats, Van Zyl Vleis butchery, and MK8 Diamond Security will be disrupted for two days following an explosion in the distribution box at the flats. Emergency services are on-site to ensure the safe evacuation of all residents and employees from the affected buildings.

Pieter Streak, owner of Van Zyl Vleis butchery, expressed frustration at the timing of the incident. “Tomorrow is a holiday, and we’re already busy today. Now, we’re unable to serve our customers and will be forced to close. Unfortunately, we’ll remain closed tomorrow and will only reopen on Saturday,” he lamented.

Streak also voiced concerns about the impact on perishable goods stored in their fridges. “While our fridges will maintain the cold for the next two days, we’re hopeful that power will be restored as promised to prevent any spoilage,” he added.
