THE GALESHEWE SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit is hunting for a suspect who allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl in the veld near Phuthanang in March 2020.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was walking to a friend when she was approached by a man known as “Big E”.

Galeshewe police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said the man grabbed the girl and dragged her to a nearby veld where he allegedly raped her.

“The suspect is described as an African male, dark in complexion, slender in build and with brownish eyes. He was wearing a navy blue hoodie, has short untidy dreaded hair and speaks Afrikaans and Setswana,” said Sam.

The police have requested the public to assist with information that may lead to the apprehension of the suspect and the investigation of the case.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Bruce Satisfied, on 083 940 0503 or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app.
