THE BARKLY West police have opened an inquest docket following the death of a 10-year-old boy, who is believed to have drowned in the Vaal River near Barkly West.

The boy’s body was retrieved by the Kimberley SAPS Search and Rescue team on October 20 at about 11am.

Police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said no foul play was suspected at this stage.

“The police investigation continues,” said Tawana.
