Police investigating culpable homicide case after 11 people killed in N14 crash

The Mothibistad police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after 11 people were killed in a collision involving an Audi and a Volkswagen Golf on the N14 outside Kuruman on Sunday.

THE MOTHIBISTAD police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after 11 people were killed in a collision involving an Audi and Volkswagen Golf on the N14 outside Kuruman on Sunday.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said all the occupants of both vehicles were killed during the accident, which happened at around 5pm.

“All eleven deceased were from both vehicles. They succumbed to their injuries as a result of the impact of the collision. The deceased all died on the scene,” said Tawana.

He added that a preliminary investigation indicated that one of the vehicles collided with the oncoming vehicle when it tried to overtake.

“It is believed that six passengers were travelling in the Audi while five people were inside the Volkswagen Golf. The identity of the victims will be released as soon as their next of kin have been informed. The investigation continues.”
