PATIENTS were apparently sent home this week as there was no water supply at the Warrenton community health clinic (CHC).

Warrenton residents stated that they did not experience any water cuts.

Staff at the community clinic had to make use of their bathrooms at home as the toilets could not flush and patients could not be washed.

A relative of a patient stated that diarrhoea infections had spread rapidly due to an absence of hygiene control.

“Patients were sent home because there was no water. The water has been off for some time. There is a JoJo tank but it ran dry a while back.”

Northern Cape Department of Health spokesperson Lebogang Majaha on Thursday denied that there were any disruptions to the water supply at the facility.

“We can confirm that there is water supply at the facility. This water is used for hygiene purposes, the ablution facility and consumption,” said Majaha.

He, however, admitted that the pump that was connected to the JoJo tank was faulty.

“It has since been repaired. Our infrastructure team continues to monitor the constant supply of water. There are no cases of diarrhoea reported,” Majaha added.
