THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison has issued a reminder to motorists to renew their expired licences before the end of August.

Motorists are reminded that the grace period for expired driving licence cards, learners licence disks and professional driving permits will come to an end on August 31, 2021.

The department also confirmed that all of its Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs) throughout the Province are open and ready to receive clients, with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.

Department spokesperson Rennie Andrias encouraged motorists in the Province to renew their licences and permits in order for them not to transgress the law and to avoid paying penalties.

“We ensured that all the DLTCs have the necessary safety protocols in place. This includes the queue management and hand sanitising before they enter the buildings,” added Andrias. “All our clients are encouraged to wear a mask or cloth that covers the nose and mouth.”
