THE MOTHIBISTAD Regional Court sentenced a 26-year-old man to eight years’ direct imprisonment for raping his four-year-old daughter.
The incident dates back to October 15, 2019, when the complainant, who is the victim’s mother, was bathing the victim and noticed that the child was injured.
The mother reported the incident to the police and the rape was confirmed, resulting in the arrest of the accused.
The SAPS management welcomed the sentence.
The John Taolo Gaetsewe district commissioner, Major-General Johnny Besnaar, commended the investigating officer, Constable Kentse Eunice Mokgosi, for the “meticulous investigation” that resulted in the incarceration of the perpetrator.
Besnaar vowed that the police will continuously strive to eradicate and prevent such heinous acts perpetrated against vulnerable children.
