THE KIMBERLEY SPCA said it will resume normal operations on Thursday, February 10 following a burglary at its offices on the weekend.

The chairperson of the Kimberley SPCA, Alet Steyn, noted that they are however currently open for emergencies.

“Kimberley SPCA will be available for emergencies and stray animal admissions on 053 831 7625 or 082 376 7679. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. We do realise that there are many members of the public that wish to visit our charity shop and who want to adopt animals. We are working hard to get back to normality following the devastating burglary at our premises,” said Steyn.

She thanked the residents of the city who have been supporting the association during this time.

“Thank you to everyone who offered their assistance. We are truly blessed to be part of such a caring Kimberley community.”

Police spokesperson Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane said on Sunday that valuables estimated at more than R90,000 and cash of R4,000 were stolen during the incident.

“The police are investigating a business burglary that took place between Saturday, February 5 and Sunday, February 6. Three offices were broken into and one storeroom, where two laptops, a hard drive and cellphones were stolen, all amounting to the value of R94,870, as well as cash of R4,000,” said Gopane.

The police investigation continues.
