THE KIMBERLEY Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit has requested the public’s assistance in tracing Stephen Mundari, 37, a Zimbabwean national, a person of interest who can assist with the investigation of a number of vehicle theft cases.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said Mundari is believed to be in Cape Town.

“It is alleged that members of the public who sell their vehicles on social media are approached by a suspect from Kimberley to view the vehicles. A decoy payment is allegedly made to the seller, who would hand over the vehicle after receiving a payment notification on their phone,” said Sam.

He requested anyone who might have information regarding the whereabouts of Mundari to contact Detective Warrant Officer Anthony Rheeder at 083 538 3520 or 053 807 9550 or on the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or SMS anonymously to 32211 or use the MySAPS app.

“All information will be treated confidentially,” Sam added.
