Cops confiscate R65,000 worth of booze

MEMBERS of Hartswater Crime Intelligence seized illicit alcohol to the value of R65,000 from a liquor store in Warrenton on Tuesday.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said that members of the Multi-Dimension Organised Crime team from Kimberley, Afri Risk and the Warrenton Visible Policing unit conducted an operation at the liquor store, which is owned by a foreign national.

“During inspections the team discovered illicit liquor with an estimated value of R65,000,” said Tawana.

He said that 47 bottles of Black Mamba wine, 93 bottles of Smirnoff 1818, 15 bottles of Grand Medal, eight bottles of Director Spell, 15 bottles of Viceroy, four boxes of Whyhall honey wine, 15 bottles of Black Mamba, three bottles of Jameson and 10 bottles of C&J Whisky were seized.

“An enquiry docket has been opened pending the expert’s report. The investigation continues,“ Tawana added.
