THE BODY of a young child was found lying in the veld near Alheit, Kakamas on Monday morning, at around 8am.
Kakamas police spokesperson Captain Nelis Prins said the police found the body to be in an advanced state of decomposition.
“The identity cannot be determined at this stage. However, DNA tests will determine the identity and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.”
Prins added that an inquest had been opened into the child’s death.
