Financial irregularities were identified during a forensic investigation that was conducted into money donated to the school prior to 2021, as well as school fees collected, to ensure that all funds were properly accounted for.

THE BOARD of governors at St Patrick’s Christian Brothers’ College (CBC) has indicated that should any individual be linked to the misappropriation of funds, they will be prosecuted.

Financial irregularities were identified during a forensic investigation that was conducted into money donated to the school prior to 2021, as well as school fees collected, to ensure that all funds were properly accounted for.

The chairperson of the board of governors of St Patrick’s CBC, Adrian Horwitz, stated that a forensic audit was currently under way.

“You will understand that we are in the middle of an investigation. Until the investigation is complete and somebody has been charged or convicted or admitted liability it would be very wrong for the school to publicise details of the investigation or the personalities involved.

“At this stage, I can confirm that there is a forensic audit in progress and that should the audit produce findings that indicate that any individual has misappropriated funds, that individual will be prosecuted.”

He added that the investigation came about as a result of normal checking procedures within the school.

“I further wish to reiterate that the amount involved in the irregularities under investigation is much less than the figures that have been circulating locally.”
