A 43-year-old Sassa beneficiary collapsed and died at the Sassa offices in Corless Road, Kimberley on Tuesday.
A 43-YEAR-old SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) beneficiary collapsed and died while finalising his application for a disability grant at the Sassa offices in Corless Road, Kimberley on Tuesday.
Northern Cape Sassa communication and marketing manager Inno Khunou said that the beneficiary was being assisted by an official to process and finalise his application when he informed them that he was not feeling well.
“He went outside to get some fresh air and then collapsed outside,” said Khunou.
“His visit to the local office today was to finalise his application for a disability grant after he had already undergone a medical assessment by a Sassa-contracted doctor on February 18.
“An ambulance was summoned … Unfortunately, the man had already passed away when they arrived.”
Khunou extended heartfelt condolences to the family on behalf of Sassa.
“Our hearts go out to the bereaved family, relatives and other clients who witnessed the unfortunate incident. It is a sad day indeed for Sassa and its officials at Corless Road for a family to have lost a brother like this. Sassa extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and wishes them strength during their time of loss.”
