THE ST Boniface High School Alumni in Kimberley honoured former teacher and principal, Brother Donald Madden, who recently turned 90, by presenting him with a certificate of appreciation and a cash token for his outstanding leadership.

Kimberlite and founder of the Find and Thank Your Leader: My Formative Life initiative (FATYL), Dr Bridget Keromamang Ikalafeng, said that Brother Madden and other teachers at the school had produced many outstanding leaders in society including lawyers, professors, medical doctors, geologists, chartered accountants and engineers.

“The alumni wish to recognise people while they are still alive instead of accolades at their funeral,” said Ikalafeng.

“I looked back at how I evolved from my high school days and felt a burning need to find and thank my former teachers who helped shape my career up to me achieving my doctorate degree. It is through their outstanding and selfless sacrifices and dedication at St Boniface High that, together with my former classmates and old school friends, we can consider ourselves successful today.”

She added that under the Foundation for Self-evaluation Training Programme (FSETP), six Grade 11 learners from St Boniface High were identified to undergo mentoring and coaching on research, ethics, leadership and personal branding.

“Our team of mentors and coaches will assist Grade 11 and 12 learners in shaping meaningful careers post matric.”

Ikalafeng stated that alumni members of the FATYL identified former girl guide coaches in and around Galeshewe to thank them for shaping young girls into successful women.
