It has been alleged that he has been raping his 22-year-old daughter since 2018.
Members of the Galeshewe Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrested a 52-year-old man on Wednesday in connection with the rape of his 22-year-old biological daughter.
The man is due to appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court today.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba, said on Thursday that it was alleged the 52-year-old had been raping his daughter since 2018, until his arrest this week.
“The suspect is further alleged to have threatened his daughter that if she broke her silence, he would post nude pictures of her on social media,” Ramatseba said..
“The victim finally brought her ordeal to the surface on April 25 2020, leading to the suspect’s arrest on Wednesday.”
The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Peter Shivuri, urged any person who has been sexually abused or who is currently being abused by family members, to break their silence and allow the law to deal with the perpetrators harshly.
“Heinous criminal acts perpetrated by heartless criminals cannot be curbed if they are not reported to the authorities,” Lieutenant General Shivuri stated.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court today where any attempt by him to be released on bail will be opposed.
The police investigation continues.
