The CSA/Momentum Friendship Games initiative is in its third year of existence and second full season, and this time around features a match between the Yorkshire Regional Performance Centre (RPC) and Northern Cape High at 2pm on Wednesday, November 20 at the Yorkshire Cricket Ground.
In nine thrilling contests at Under-15 level, it is an opportunity for players that would not normally play against each other to integrate and learn from one another while showcasing their talents in the true spirit of the game and helping bring communities together. This is highlighted by the reading of the Friendship Pledge by both sets of captains at the start of each game.
Yorkshire RPC will be eager to make the community proud when the Games return to Galeshewe for the fourth match of the 2019/20 season and entrance is free.
This encounter will mark the third Friendship Game between the two sides, after the home side was victorious on both previous occasions, including a convincing 10-wicket triumph in November last year.
This year, the Yorkshire RPC head coach, Elton Tsamaisi, says his team is excited about this contest and hopes the community comes out to support. “The team is very excited for this year’s Momentum Friendship match,” Tsamaisi commented. “The vibe in the team has been great, with some of the players set to play in front of cameras and a lot of people for the first time, so it’s a good thing for them as well. They just want to go out there and play their best and make their family, friends and the community proud on the day.
“It’s going to be another tough game this year. Although we beat them twice in the matches we’ve played against them in the Momentum Friendship Games, we are still expecting a difficult match. It’s also been difficult to prepare properly this year, with the players still writing exams, but we will be ready.

Upon the return of the Friendship Games to Kimberley, head of sponsorship and events at Momentum, Carel Bosman shared his excitement ahead of the memorable occasion: “It’s another empowering chapter of the Momentum Friendship Games initiative, visiting the township of Galeshewe in Kimberley and it just reminds us why we are proud to be involved in development cricket,” he said.
