Kimberley Golf Club results and next week’s competitions.

THINGS are getting back to their full swing at the Kimberley Golf Club. Here’s a look at what’s happening this wee, as well as a look back at recent results.

Looking ahead to what is planned for June 3-11:

On Friday, it is the sponsored Northern Cape High School Better Ball Scramble Drive. The cost is R1,400 per 4-ball and the competition is open to all amateurs and pros.

Saturday’s competition is the Horseshoe, Airport Hotel, Kalahari Lodge sponsored Medal/ IPS. Saturday also sees the monthly outing for the Seniors.

Sunday, June 5 is the Salo Sports Management hosted Round 3 of the Northern Cape Junior series starting at 08.30am. Please contact Cheryl-Ann van Wyk on 082-229-6704 for registration and entry. Social play will follow with special rates applying as for Tuesday June 7.

Monday June 5 course is closed as it is every Monday.

Tuesday June7 sees special rates of R100 for members playing nine holes and R150 for 18 and cheaper rates also for non-members at R200 for nine holes and R250 for 18 holes. These rates apply for every Tuesday.

Wednesday June 8 is the Konica Minolta Sponsored BBS competition.

Thursday June 9 is the weekly KWV sponsored nine-hole competition with a special rate for a golf cart of R150.

Next Friday is the Sun Flamingo sponsored Niner for which special rates will apply for the months of June and July 2022. If tee off is before 11am the rates will be R200 for nine holes and R300 for 18 AND this includes a golf cart. This Friday special is called LBFWBM – Life Begins Friday and Work Begins Monday.

Sunday June 11 also sees a new competition – IPS and BBS with meat hamper prizes for 1st (2*R500) and 2nd (2*R300) places as well as two lucky draw prizes of the same value.

Draws have also been published for the 2022 Oppenheimer KGC, the 2022 KGC Better Ball Match Play and the 2022 KGC Blacklaws Match play Competitions.

The following first rounds must be completed by June 13:

G Norman vs W Crozier in the Oppenheimer.

N Alexander and J Janse vs W Olivier and C Rademeyer in the Better Ball.

A Crozier and J Robey vs Z Suliman and N Fourie in the Blacklaws.

RESULTS from the Kimberley Golf Club for the week of May 24-29 are:

Wednesday club competition: Winner on a count out was S Wild on 39 pts beating F Richards followed by H Welham on 37 pts.

The Thursday KWV winner was P Salo on 26 pts followed by F Fivaz on 23 and H Galamo on 21.

The Flamingo Niner played on Friday was won by S Arthur on 19 pts followed by S Thomas coming second on a count-out on 18 pts with H Janse third.

The Saturday Halifax Monyobo Memorial tournament sponsored by the Sun International Flamingo Casino, saw an excellent turnout of 101 players and was won by D Thomas on 40 pts with L Jacobs second on 39 pts. Third was A Kori winning on a count-out on 38 pts over M Allie. Saturday also saw the weekly Charlies turnout of 10 players and the tied winners on 34 pts were P Botes and W Olivier (Club 16 guest).
