Results from the Kimberley Golf Club for the week of September 26 to 2 October 2, and what’s planned for October 7-16

Results from the Kimberley Golf Club for the week of September 26 to 2 October 2 are as follows:

The Wednesday OBC sponsored IPS competition was won by Jason Barnes with 37 pts on a count-out over Francois Richards also on 37 pts with Frankie de Nobrega 3rd also on 37 pts.

The KWV sponsored Thursday Niner was won by Jock Robey with 25 pts. Second was Braam Botes on 22 pts and third on a count-out was Kevin Antill on 21 pts.

The Friday Flamingo Niner was won by Jackie Beukes on 19 pts with Fred Wyngaardt 2nd on 18 and Shane Arthur 3rd on a count-out with the same points.

The Saturday Horseshoe/Airport/Kalahari Lodge sponsored Medal/IPS competition was won by Andries Kori with the best gross of 69. Dereck Dobson won the best nett with 67 and Shane Arthur the best IPS with 41 pts.

The weekly Saturday Charlies outing was won by Joanie Herselman.

The monthly Seniors outing was won by Harry Welham and Wayne Green with a BBS score of 47 while Pat Ansley took the individual prize for the best IPS score of 38 pts.

Saturday and Sunday saw an Under-19 interprovincial tournament played between Northern Cape, Free State A and B and Free State North. Our NC team did exceptionally well to win the tournament. The highlight was Thato Stander from the KGC scoring a hole-in-one on the 14th.

Sunday saw Northern Cape Seniors challenge Bloemfontein Seniors for the Blacklaws Cup. NC Seniors won 5 games to 1. This cup has been played for, for over a 100 years.

The following is planned for October 7-16

Players please note that you must putt out in a competition else your score will not count.

Friday, October 7: The Sun Flamingo Niner Special with special rates for teeing off before 11am.

Saturday, October 8: The Sol Plaatje University Chancellors Day sponsored by Standard Bank as a fund-raising day for the Chancellors Bursary Fund. This is an individual stableford competition. Also the weekly Charlies outing.

Sunday, October 9: Social golf with special rates applying.

Monday, October 10: Course closed as usual but remember the office is open for business.

Tuesday, October 11: Social golf with special rates applying.

Wednesday, October 12: The Konica Minolta sponsored BBS competition.

Thursday, October 13: The KWV Sponsored Niner with a special rate for a golf cart of R150.

Friday, October 14: The Northern Cape High School Corporate Golf Day.

Saturday, October 15: The FNB and KGC Club competition. Also the weekly Charlies outing.

Sunday, October 16: Social golf with special rates applying.

Bookings for the annual Barney Barnato tournament are also open with the entry form published on the KGC website.

Once booked and paid please send the club proof of payment so that the booking can be reserved.

• It is now only 17 days to go to the start of the Barney on Monday, October 24.
