A rain disrupted Northern Cape Championships was decided over 36 holes at the weekend, when Upington Golf Club’s Bertie Steenkamp, on one under par 143 (72.71), was crowned the 2018 champion.
A count-out on 147 placed Bazil Nortje (KGC) second and Alan Toy (Sishen GC) third. Keanan Aysen (KGC) was fourth on 148 in a three-way count-out.

LJ Thomane returned 21 points to win the Friday Sun Flamingo Niner. Frans Mulder was the runner-up on 20 points in a count-out from Deuce Leburu.
Joseph Cilliers and Luchmen Poonawassy were fourth and fifth on 19 points.
Willie Uys, meanwhile, compliments of a big six at the 15th and at the 17th, posted a winning 26 points in the Thursday KWV Powerplay Niner. Luchmen Poonawassy was the runner-up on 25 points, a big six at the 17th.
Peter Jansen, big sixes on the two par 3s, was third on 24 points on a count-out. Kevin Wakeford, Herbie Woodbridge, Mikah Poonawassy, Ant Crozier, Evan Painting and Dave Wilson, also, each returned a powerplay for a ticket in the draw.
A three-way count out on 38 points individual stableford points was required to determine the

Our look ahead
This week the KGC offers a Wednesday afternoon competition tomorrow; a Thursday KWV Powerplay Niner (double option) and a Friday Sun Flamingo Niner as well as the snowball draw, which, thanks to the absence of John Lankester will stand at R4 250.
On Saturday it is the KGC monthly Medal. It is also round one of the NC Senior Society Championships.
Rounds one and two of the NC Junior Championships will also take place.
On Sunday morning it is round two of the Senior Society Championships as well as round three of the NC Junior Championships.
