The rest of the teams have yet to pay the league their annual registration fee
The Sol Plaatje Local Football Association (SPLFA) has promised to pay all outstanding prize monies to deserving clubs on condition that the expectant recipients settle all their unpaid affiliation fees for the previous years with the Association, says LFA treasurer Cecil Thebe.
“They must first pay the league all outstanding affiliation fees then the league will honour its monetary commitments to them,” said Thebe, reacting to complaints by several clubs affiliated to the 16-member association.
Thebe said that from all the teams in the LFA only last year’s league winners Rainbow Stars, Sol Plaatje University, Township Rollers and Santanna have paid their fees for the 2017/18 league season. The rest of the teams have yet to pay the league their annual registration fee.
Thebe said when the league starts in the new season for 2018/19 all clubs that have not paid their affiliation fees will not be allowed to participate in the Association’s activities.
“There will be no more free rides,” said Thebe.
Thebe’s comments follow individual club complaints that the league still owed them prize money for the last playing season. Among those teams who aired their complaints are Burning Leaves, Galeshewe and Wilscott.
Thebe also used the opportunity to invite all affiliated clubs to a general meeting at the Mayibuye centre in Galeshewe tomorrow evening starting at 6pm.
