This past weekend saw the Sol Plaatje Junior Development League taking place at the fields at the Place of Safety in the Santa area.
In the Under-17 division, Motherwells had the better of Young Hearts when they hammered them 12-1. The half-time score was 3-0 to Motherwells.
Young Hearts initially tried to contain the onslaught from Motherwells, but the latter was quick to the ball in the first half and managed to score three goals.
Young Hearts were at sixes and sevens and tried their utmost to regroup but to no avail with the three goals for Motherwells coming from Ethin Swarts, Michael Sandt and Sidney America.
Fast and furious
The second stanza took more or less the same pattern but this time the goals came fast and furious with Motherwell netting a further nine goals to add to their tally.
Young Hearts netted their single consolation goal before the end of the match.
When the smoke had cleared after the second half the goalscorers could tally up their scores, and it made for some interesting reading.
Second-half goals were scored by Swarts (3) Sandt (2), America (2), José Jafta and Jomonivia Kock, who banged in one each, with Young Hearts goal being scored by Oratile Mothibi.
