Hammer came back in the 79th minute to claim a brace.
Ipopeng’s Real Madrid beat the visiting Junior Aces 5-1 in a Safa Frances Baard SAB league fixture played at the Galeshewe Stadium on Sunday.
Hosts Real Madrid started the game with intent, pushing very hard for a goal early on in the first half but were unfortunate not to convert their enthusiasm into points.
The visiting Junior Aces team showed some character and a never-say-die attitude on the pitch but had unfortunately neglected to bring along their scoring boots, and the first half ended on a goalless note.
The atmosphere of the game changed completely in the second half. Madrid’s striker Tshepo Mzolo made it into the Aces danger area and unleashed a shot that found the back of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Minutes later the visitors found a gap in the Madrid defence and wasted no time in exploiting it to their advantage when Tlhomomo Thekisho netted to equalise for the visiting side.
The Tigers celebrations were, however, cut short by Madrid who launched an immediate fightback scoring their second goal and then their third in the 60th minute through Enrique Hammer and Elias Seleke. Hammer came back in the 79th minute to claim a brace.
Madrid coach Alton Waterboer said in a post-match interview that he was happy to get a win against Juniors.
Meanwhile, also on Sunday Pescodia Porto were lucky to walk away with the full points against Tswelopele in a league fixture also played at the Galeshewe stadium. Pescodia netted three goals to only two replies by Tswelopele. Tshepo Molefe got on the scoreboard for the Pescodia side via a brace of goals while Mxolisi Kwayi scored once. Dewayne van Dick and Danton Mogorosi scored a goal each for Tswelopele.
