Barkly West based FC Barcelona blasted two quick first-half goals past Kimberley’s Dalton Brothers during their first round Safa SAB Frances Baard fixture clash at the Galeshewe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Barcelona’s two goals all but put paid to any possible comeback by the former National Professional League side even though Dalton did attempt a spirited fightback for the match honours afterwards.

Dalton had the better motivation to advance in the log standings in this their fourth match of the season. Owner Sebastian “Jomo” Bonokwane was furious in the stands saying his side’s performance was far below par and they desperately needed to win the game so as to regain some respectability in the log standings.

Barcelona forward Phitlhelelo “Sanchez” Barnard was the first to find the net, followed by a goal soon after by Donald Gregg Arends.

Bonokwane, was stunned and fixatedly watching proceedings said Dalton had since the opening of the season notched up a solitary win, a draw and one loss, so they needed to up their game in order not to drop further down the rankings.

The match itself was an entertaining, smooth flowing affair. Barcelona were the better organised side enjoying the lion’s share of the ball.

Barcelona for their part were also impressive in their build-up starting most of their moves from the back and frequently ending in the Dalton danger area. However, that’s where their challenge ended with the Barcelona goalkeeper easily walking away with the Man of the Match mantle after frustrating the Dalton attacks on his goal.
