Hungry Lions secured their first log point after sharing the spoils with Durban’s Uthongathi FC in Kathu on Saturday.

NORTHERN Cape team Hungry Lions FC, debutants to the National First Division’s (NFD) Glad Africa League, secured their first log point after sharing the spoils with Durban’s Uthongathi FC on Saturday at the Sivos stadium in Kathu.

The match ended goalless as neither side breached the other’s defenses which could be a feather in Hungry Lions’ cap seeing as of the two teams Uthongathi is the more seasoned club having played for two seasons in the Glad Africa League and ought on that basis to have been able to take advantage of the newbies.

Of Saturday’s six scheduled matches in the Glad Africa League the Hungry Lions and Uthongathi goalless result was matched by the one all result in the Polokwane derby featuring Black Leopards and Polokwane FC.

In another game Cape Town All Stars came off second best in Thohoyandou against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) who beat them 3-1 in full time.

Elsewhere, TS Sporting FC ruled the roost 1-0 against Pretoria Callies at the Kabokweni stadium in Mpumalanga.

And in Soshanguve, JDR Stars beat the University of Pretoria side when they hosted them and secured a 1-0 home win over their visitors.

The opening positions on the Glad Africa league table predictably had all outright match winners in this opening round stand at the top end of the table. For now TTM are tops on the back of their three-goal deluge against Cape Town All Stars who scored once.
