The Safa Frances Baard region gets out of the starting blocks this weekend for the start of the brand new 2020/21 football season with a bumper 16 matches that will be played in their jurisdiction.

Safa regional secretary Ponatshego Mondela yesterday distributed the fixture list for the SAB League. The list details all 24 matches that will be played in part of the remaining month of January alone.

An inspection of the fixture list revealed that the Galeshewe Stadium is going to take a beating from hosting most of the matches from this league.

The stadium is going to host almost two-thirds (14) of the SAB league matches starting from this Saturday, January 18 until January 24. Another batch of matches will be played on the last weekend just as the month turns.

Mondela still has to release the fixtures for the Sasol Women’s league which he also manages in the district. That apart, the stadium is occasionally also home to many of the Local Football Association (LFA) matches as well as some games of the Masters Football League (SMFL).

All these fixtures exclude the cup competitions for almost all divisions and the periodic school-based matches whose finals are on occasion also staged at the local municipal stadium.

Thanks to the recent good rains in the region the Galeshewe Stadium turf has sprouted and bound well and only needs a regular trim to be ready for the games.

All Safa matches are free to the public except where stated.
