As excitement builds for the Springboks’ final home match of the year against Argentina at Mbombela Stadium, SA Rugby has issued a stern warning to fans: beware of fraudulent ticket sellers.

With the game set to be a thrilling showdown and the Castle Lager Rugby Championship trophy on the line, tickets are in high demand.

However, SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer has cautioned supporters that purchasing tickets from unofficial online platforms could leave them out of pocket and without access to the match.

“Springbok match tickets have become highly sought-after, and that has brought out the fraudsters aiming to make a quick buck,” Oberholzer stated. He emphasised that tickets for the Springboks vs Argentina fixture are nearly sold out, and legitimate tickets are available only through Computicket or the Mbombela Stadium ticket office.

Oberholzer urged fans to avoid websites offering tickets at inflated prices, warning that these sites, such as Viagogo and similar platforms, have no access to official tickets.

In many cases, these companies either vanish before the event or become evasive as the match date approaches.

“We hear too many stories of people searching online for tickets and paying way over the price at the first page they land on – only to be disappointed when they lose their money and don’t receive their tickets,” he said.

Oberholzer stressed that fans should only use official channels when purchasing tickets to avoid disappointment. “Our message is loud, clear, and very simple – if you don’t buy through the official channels for any Springbok Test or other events, you’re going to be disappointed.”

The Springboks’ clash against Argentina not only promises a thrilling game but also a chance to lift the prestigious Rugby Championship trophy, making legitimate tickets even more valuable. Fans are urged to stay vigilant and avoid becoming victims of fraud as the countdown to the highly anticipated match continues.

For those still hoping to secure tickets, SA Rugby recommends checking with Computicket or the stadium ticket office for any last-minute availability.

Stay safe, buy smart, and enjoy the match!
