Plenty of excitement awaits at KRC rugby festival

Without a doubt, with the pedigree of teams competing, this will make for a festive afternoon of rugby.

Tomorrow will be filled with thrills for rugby enthusiasts with a rugby festival taking place at Vleissentraal Park in Moore Road. Vleissentraal Kimberley Rugby Club will be hosting the rugby festival with some well-known rugby clubs from the central region of the country.

A total of eight teams will be competing at the festival, these teams are Recall Security Bloemfontein Police (the Free State Club Champions), Rototank Roodepoort Rugby Club will field two teams Roodepoort and Roodepoort II) (the Golden Lions Club Champions), Barbarians, KImberley Rugby Club, CT Hydraulics Sishen (Griqualand West Club Champions), Welkom Dorp Rugby Club (Griffons Club Champions) and Bloemfontein Collegians.

The Barbarian team, it must be noted is made up of some wise heads, with former Griqua players mixed with some of the younger local talented players.

Without a doubt, with the pedigree of teams competing, this will make for a festive afternoon of rugby.

The matches kick off at 12.45pm with Bloemfontein Collegians taking on the Barbarians, followed by Bloemfontein Police entertaining Roodepoort II at 2.20pm.

At 3.55pm KRC will pit their strength against Welkom Dorp while the final match, between Sishen and Roodepoort first team, ends the day’s proceedings at 5.30pm.

KRC head coach Pieter Streak told the DFA that he is looking forward to tomorrow’s festival. “The day promises to be a pleasant and a very festive afternoon, which will produce exciting rugby, as well as will be other entertainment, and children will also be welcome.

“There will be music by well-known entertainers and Dee Jays, after the final match.

“There will also be a beer tent,” Streak added.

The gates open at 11am tomorrow morning and entrance to the festival is R20 per person.
